"I guess I am a traveller."

I like moving around, meeting new people, understanding new cultures and spotting the differences and similarities with my own one. My dream day is just to walk around and to end up randomly in front of a trendy restaurant, a fashionable shop or a cool concept store as if I had discovered something very special, of my own!

This is how I make the cities I live in mine.

I was born in Belgium but lived in Paris almost my entire life. I have been to school in England for three years and then started moving when I began my Master Degree in Business Management last year: six months in Madrid, six months in London now six months in Tel Aviv and next year six months in Berlin... Exciting life I must say!

Going around, I have always tried to integrate as much as I could in the city I was immersed in. And this is where we get to fashion... There is a common assumption saying that you have "European fashion" but that is definitely not the way I see it.

PARIS

MADRID have their very own and specific style.

LONDON

BRUSSELS

You probably know the "salad without dressing" followed by "an apple only" PARISian combo. It is a very fashionable city and you do feel it. However, as there is what I would call a "fashion pressure", girls are stylish but conventional.. Black is the uniform, heels the must have, long coat your best friend and a hat (or sunglasses depending on the season) your accessory. One thing is very clear, forget about the Beret in Paris!

In BRUSSELS, fashion seems a bit plain when compared to Paris...

However, people dare a lot more. You have amazing Belgian designers known for their bold looks and bright colours! I think of Dries Van Noten, a fashion icon who has completely change Belgium's image on Fashion, giving Brussels a word to say next to Paris or London; challenging Neighbours!

Talking about LONDON, that is a whole other story! Cropped top, sneakers and leggings are definitely part of the uniform when talking about teenagers and students. However, just as Tal was saying previously in one of our posts (click here to get to Tal's article) about NYC, London is huge city segmented in different neighbourhoods having their own and specific fashion. Any similarities between Camden's grunge/emo, Shoreditch's hypster, Soho's arty and Chelsea's preppy style? Not much I guess.

Uncover yourself completely with the first drop of sun and you'll be exactly on the right mode, that's the only rule!

If now I have to get to TEL AVIV, I guess I would compare its fashion to Madrid's. Easy-going, chilled and relax... You have a great sense of freedom and non-judgemental attitudes that I have not found anywhere else.

There is a lot of creativity here through amazing Israeli designers such as Dodo Baror or Stella & Lori... Of course, the only thing I can afford is looking at it but it is still pleasant! And vintage shops are a blast!!

It is hard to describe TLV fashion in a few sentence, I just think that here everybody dresses up as they feel on the day or simply doesn't dress up if they want to go to the beach!

Anyway, what is for sure is that I am loving my experience here so much that I have even started a blog (@sixmonthsintlv), and Trench makes me like TLV every day more!

And what is my style in all this? Not quite sure.. I guess it flows and changes, I like original twists, funny patterns but stay quite classical...

Let's Trench this!
