Its 2016 and the world seems to be so advanced.
But when it come to gender equality in the work space, the world seems so far behind. A lot of women still face gender inequality in the work place, and wether we accept the fact that there still is inequality or not, it will remain there until the right measures are taken.
Gender equality is only achieved when people are able to enjoy and access the same resources, rewards, opportunities and chances regardless of wether they are a woman or a man. There are many countries who serve as role models for others, such as Australia, who has made impressive changes and process towards gender equality in the past few years.
And yet, women all over the world continue to earn less money than men, they are less likely to be in leadership positions or advance their careers as far as men do and they are more likely to live in poverty later in life. The goal is for women and men to receive the same opportunities the same chances, the same policies and the same amount of money.
Achieving the goal of gender equality is not only important for workplaces because it is ‘fair’ and ‘the right thing to do’, it is important to not distinguish between the capabilities of men and women and its vital for a productive work environment, for different views on problems and for the embedding of the genders into working together and achieving the best.
