So you want to host a Trench party?

So this is something that we hear a lot from newer girls just joining Trench.

“How do you host a Trench party?!” and “How do you get chosen to be a host?!” not to mention “So after you get picked to be the host, how do you HOST?!”. Well we are here to answer all those questions and give you a little heads up on the process so when it's time to host your first Trench party, you are all set!

First off: What is a Trench party?

A Trench party is a fun way to meet, shop and share with the Trench community. Trench parties are being organized and hosted by Trenchers themselves so they are the ones to pick the date, time, location and theme.

Hosting criteria

Your account should:

  • Be in good standing. As hosting is a highly-visible position in the Trench community, we’re looking for Trenchers who know our rules and follow them. A few helpful hints? Do not have unsupported items or coordinate offline transactions.

  • Have 10+ items in your closet. We love when closets are full and brimming with eye candy! It’s beneficial for Trenchers who are shopping at the parties to see your personal style, not only in the items you select to sell at the party, but also in the items you’ve loved and owned personally.

  • Be Active. Meet and follow Trenchers. List items for sale. Browse, like and share your favorite listings. Getting connected and keeping in touch with the community will make you a well-rounded Trencher!

  • Have personality! Nothing makes us grin wider than clean, clear and creative item photos. Take a clear shot of the item on a hanger against a white wall, or even wear your item and take a selfie (or grab a friend to snap a pic for you!). And don’t forget the key to all amazing photos: good lighting! Bright, uncluttered images present your items in the best way and ensures they will capture the attention of potential buyers.   • Send team@trench.fashion a friendly email letting us know you’re interested in hosting a Trench party–we’d love to hear from you!

  • Once we’ve received your email, we will add you to our list of interested candidates and reach out as soon as we’ve had a chance to take a look at your closet.

  • Please do wait patiently. We have a long list of eager candidates and are working hard daily to ensure every eligible Trencher is given the opportunity to host.

I’m hosting! Now what?

How to create an invitation: Create a Facebook event to share with the Trench community around you. Give guests at least one week notice to start gathering their items. Our team will send you all the information you need for creating and promoting your event.

Whom to invite: All the Trenchers around you. For a good variety of merchandise, 10 people is a manageable number, though anywhere from 5 to 30 is doable.

What to Serve: Snacks and drinks that you can eat with one hand, leaving the other free to root for loot.

How to organize: Set up a garment rack with hangers, or string up a clothesline, then prop up a full-length mirror. You can also set up a few tables and create a space where each Trencher can arrange their items. Make signs, and sort items by type, season, or even personality. Don’t forget to clear out a space, such as a bathroom or a screened-off area, for a “fitting room” and set up a nice playlist.

A tip from us to you: The way you behave will reflect on how well the party will go. Stay calm, always have a smile on your face, be kind, happy and helpful. It's more important for the girls that are coming to the party to feel like they are in a good environment, and less important to be worried about racks not being full enough. Good vibes only!

Repeat hosting

Have you already hosted before but are ready to do so again? Great! We are always happy to have a Trencher host again. We generally ask that you wait at least 2 weeks before reaching out to host again to allow time for other Trenchers to get in on the fun. Once that time has passed, send us an email at team@trench.fashion and we’ll get you on our repeat host list. Please note that we do have a limited number of spots available for repeat hosts so it may take some time before we are able to get you a party date.
